This couple's wedding invitation featured a sketch by the Hudson River artist, Frederick Church, of a scene showing the “castle” where the reception was to be held. Painting directly on the fondant icing covering the base tier, I incorporated that sketch as well as five other scenes based on paintings by other Hudson River artists. The sugar paste flowers were chosen to reflect the country summer theme of the wedding.

This cake was for a small wedding. The bride, a gardener who grows orchids as well as many different varieties of roses and lilies, wanted just a few sugar flowers featured around the cake, based on what was in her greenhouse and garden at the time.

This couple wanted the flowers and the cake to reflect the theme of a light, airy summer day. The icing was fondant and the colors of the sugar paste flowers were chosen to create a light, summery air and to match their wedding flowers.

This couple's reception was a small luncheon for 20 people, so they decided to have individual cakes with fondant icing, buttercream “dots” on the side, and the bride's favorite flower, violets, done in sugar paste on the top.
