This sculpted cake was commissioned for the 25th “birthday party” of the Alice and Hamilton Fish Library in Garrison, NY. In order to create a dimensional effect, I attached pastillage windows, shutters, doors, columns, and steps to the sides, back, and front. I painted the brick sides and slate roof directly on the fondant icing with food color.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Vassar College's Art Gallery, alumni were asked to donate works of art from their private collections to add to the permanent gallery collection. At the dinner held to honor the donors, the centerpiece for each table was one of 40 cakes with pastillage plaques I painted to match the donated paintings. The plaques were not attached to the cake so they could be gift boxed and presented to each donor.

A chocolate cake with chocolate truffle ganache icing was the choice for a small gathering for a 21st birthday celebration. I painted an illuminated “T” on a small pastillage plaque for an added decoration to the name. Silver dragees (“balls”) completed the medieval look of the cake.
